A large development in Vinings got a green light from the Cobb Board of Commissioners on Tuesday.
According to an article by the Marietta Daily Journal, the development is planned for a six-acre tract off Paces Ferry Road. The development will include 67 townhomes.
The townhomes will start in the $500,000s and go up to the $700,000s. All the units will be for sale – none will be rented, according to the news article. They will each be a maximum of three stories high and between 2,100 and 3,500 square feet.
“The project, being developed by Marietta-based Brooks Chadwick Capital, is set to be built at the intersection of Spring Hill Parkway — the former location of Cumberland United Methodist Church, which joined with Faith United Methodist Church to become Covenant United Methodist Church, located on King Springs Road in Smyrna,” the article reads.
The attorney representing Brooks Chadwick at Tuesday’s meeting said the project was originally supposed to be a mixed-use development with retail space, senior living residences and townhomes.
“After discussions with the community and so forth, the original applicant, Fuqua Development, decided to transfer that to Brooks Chadwick,” the attorney said. “And now we’re proposing an all-residential proposal.”
A rezoning request for the property was approved by the commissioners 4-0, with one chairman absent. Commissioner Bob Ott, who represents the area, thanked the developer for working with the community to come up with the plan, according to the MDJ.
