A new assisted senior living facility is set to open in Smyrna on April 9.
The new three-story facility will house 108 units and is financed with tax-exempt bonds, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.
Provident Village at Creekside is located at 4838 South Cobb Drive between the East-West Connector and Interstate 285. According to the MDJ, it includes 85 assisted living units and 23 memory care units dedicated to residents struggling with dementia. The facility will eventually also offer independent living options.
About 20 percent of the units have already been reserved and suite prices range from about $3,500 to $5,400 a month.
While Georgia residents pay on average about 9.9 percent in state and local taxes, they enjoy an overall cost of living that is lower than all but 6 other states, according to Seniorliving.org. Also, housing costs are lower than 90 percent of states. Social Security, military retirement, and VA benefits are not taxed. And there is no inheritance or gift tax. On Tuesday, the Board of Commissioners are set to vote on whether or not to approve the issuance of $19 million in tax-exempt interest bonds by the Development Authority of Cobb County to complete the Smyrna project, according to the MDJ.
The new facility is expected to create 41 permanent jobs, including nurses, nursing assistants and administrators positions.
More than 50,000 residents call Smyrna home. It’s located about 10 miles northwest of Atlanta and is considered an integral part of the Metro Atlanta area. Known as the “Jonquil City,” it derives this name from the thousands of jonquils that flourish in gardens and along the streets in early spring.
Over the years, the City of Smyrna – covering approximately 15 sq. miles – has developed into a vital and active member of the regional landscape.
When considering retirement, Georgia has the added benefit of a mild climate. Rarely does Georgia see snow and while the summers are hot and humid, it’s nothing like that of Florida. If Georgia sounds like the ideal place to retire, Senior Living can help you in your search for a senior living community. Go to Seniorliving.org to learn more.
